f The Seedling Project has been birthed in collaboration with the people of Kabale, Uganda, from the desire to grow the dignity and opportunities that are already present in their region. We seek to do this through community-based partnerships that help to expand and improve access to health and education so that each person may further live into their potential.

We believe that it is everyones birthright to have an education and get proper health care and security. That is why we chose The Seedling Project as our name and image, because, we- like the seedling are all the same- in need of the same basic needs to grow and flourish. It is out of these basic needs that our growth into our own unique particularity as an individual is cultivated and harvested... we believe that we all deserve this right.

CULTIVATE:
While we partner with this little region in Uganda, we would like to acknowledge that it is just the beginning of addressing the global emergency.

We acknowledge that there are many "road blocks" that people living in poverty are facing...we are just facing a small portion of these "road blocks".
We need to back up and partner together so that our little piece of the larger puzzle can build on others.

We believe that the 'problems' of poverty are not cultural problems, they are structural problems.
The Seedlings of Kabale, Uganda:
The exact name of the village that we are partnering with is Karambo Villiage and it is in the Kabale District of southwestern Uganda. This region is home to three tribes: the Bakiga , the Bafumbira and the Batwa. The Bakiga are the indigenous people, the Bafumbira and the Batwa tribes mainly are from Rwanda and Congo who have come to stay in the area due to war in their country. This area is in the hill country which is lush and full of trees and lakes, this makes travel to and from social services very difficult for the individual. The story of this region, sadly, is similar to many other parts of Africa. Access to basic daily needs is hard to come by and the search for them (water, food and proper health care) can often overwhelm the day of a individual or family.

Health overview of region:
The Community has a great need of Health Services. It is affected by many diseases for example Aids/ HIV and malaria to mention but a few.
(A) Yes, they have a health Centre located at the Parish. This Health Centre serves the community around. This is a small health center with no doctor or certifed nurse. There is a great need for medical equipment to aid in the care that they are able to offer each patient. The Seedling project has a small goal right now of saving up enough money to equip this clinic with a refrigerator for their Aids testing.(B)Each month the clinic oversees thirty deliveries and out of that they get an average number of seven (7) with Obstetric Fistula (Leakining in between the legs from pregnancy). That is a high number of Fsitula patients! The clinic does not have a surgeon therefore women often go without the proper surgery to cure them of the leaking fistula. The Seedling Project hopes to provide the means for many of the simple $300.00 procedures to be done so that each woman may be given back her dignity and thrive as a mother within her community. To learn more about Obstetric Fistula please go to: fightfistula.org(C) As of late, there are Seventy Eight (78) infected Aids victims registered with us. The Seedling Project aims to assist Father Bruno and the community health clinic by addressing with them current assessments and visioning future needs. One step at a time desiring to achieve a better clinic, with doctor and maternity ward.(D) Malaria cases are common, this is mainly caused by poor conditions of living, lack of clean water to mention but a few.
